It's been suggested that planning meeting is attached to start of intros because of the distance we need to travel; so we won't know how intros will pan out until we're there.

Now before you get all anxious and start to fret, we aren't thinking of chucking it in. What we are thinking of, after some sensible advice from friends that are going through the linking matching process, of changing our minds regarding what we have been approved for!

We have been approved for a little boy aged 5+. We always thought that one day we would do this all again (that was in the early days) and go for a girl next. However our friends pointed out that on the childs descriptions ...

    WARNING - self-indulgent post

I'm so proud We were interviewed last year by a social worker who was writing a book about adoption, and she asked if she could use our story. It was that long ago, we'd forgotten all about it, but out of the blue today, we received a copy of the book, and there it is, our story in print

I am so chuffed, and it's lovely to think that our words could maybe go a little way towards helping others going through the process.

Sorry I have been offline for a while - trying to keep grounded in the lull.

A brief outline - we were approved in Sept 09 & looking for a boy aged 5+.

We had a competitive match in April but we were not chosen, however we just picked ourselves up and brushed ourselves down and went straight back into looking on CWW & BMP.

We found 3 potential "Juniors" way back at the end of April and made the usual enquiries plus informed our SW of the same.

Then it went dead.

Very new here, my husband and I would really love to foster but we wonder if we are able to, as we are going to court next month to gain residence/Special Guardianship Order for our two grandchildren. We have a two bedroomed bungalow with a very large roof space that could be converted in the future! The Grandchildren are in one room at the moment but when the eldest reaches ten ( is five now, six in september ) she will need a room of her own, as the youngest will also need a room of his own ...

We did this once before and it didn't work out too well mainly because we discovered what might useful for a year 7 girl might be totally useless for a year 13 boy.

Imagine our delight and surprise to find that Knowall (11) is an "average" pupil according to his test results!!

I can now reveal the big secret that Ella got married today!

By now (7PM) should have reached the hotel wedding-night halfway between our home town and the Isle of Skye in Scotland. She didn't get married in a church but she looked so lovely that my eyes developed a rather mysterious leak. I managed to get her BM and BF to attend although in his case I had to get rather assertive last week to make certain he was on his best behaviour. I don't think the other guests would ever have realised ...

Just got back from a fab half term holiday with my little darlings. We went to the Yorkshire Dales in our caravan and had the best time ever. The sun shone (almost) every day, and we spent the days picnicking, playing in the rivers, and getting sunburnt, and the evenings bbq'ing and knocking back a few too many of the old vino collapso's. You don't have to go far away from home to have the perfect holiday

It's back to school and work tomorrow though, boo hiss

On Thursday and Friday we went over to Wales to visit two friends from the Childrens' Home. They now live in a commune having had a rotten time when they were shunted out of the system at aged 18. It was lovely to see them settled and happy and in full-time employment (not even on the minimum wage either). Above all I think the family feel of the commune was exactly what they need.

They had had a number of unsuccessful foster placements with blame on both sides and so had ended up in the same ...
