help....

I have found a private school, which specializes in the behaviour my babe is having at the moment, Which were first triggered by the school.

The teacher is frustrated and doesn't think my honey has got the support or services she needs, it's coming upto a year now.

Does anyone have experience how to get the local education authority to fund this placement? The therapy is intensive, the school only closes for 2 weeks in the school holidays, where historically this has caused so much trouble for my babe. I love you losing her mobility the year before and she hasn't got over the last summer holiday break yet!

LD Camhs psychologist is doing a treatment plan.
I am going to try to get the ed psychs imput more.
Still trying to get my honey a disabilities sw.

What else can I do?

Hi Honey

I don't know that much about it, however I can only imagine you are going to have a long hard battle ahead!!!
The mum of a Young guy I worked with fought to get him into a specialist school and I can remember she had a lot of fighting to do before she got any funding. (she did manage in the end somehow though)
That said though it sounds ideal for her so bloody well fight, Get all the professionals on board (And on side) that you can.
Sorry I can't help but I do have my fingers crossed for her x

What is her Statement at the moment? Is she getting everything listed on her statement? Does the statement need altyering? Can the LEA provide what she needs?

You need to contact IPSEA

http://www.ipsea.org.uk/

It can be done -I know of children who have done it. Also, if the costs involved are hefty, and there is transport cost too, the LEA often decide to offer better help within the State sector which they may have previously refused.

it is also worth asking the school about funding -specifically whether your LEA has funded places there before.
